Karen Nicol’s embroideries are incredible and if I had enough money and wall space I would cover my whole house in them.
From working on projects for the likes of Givenchy, Chloe, and Chanel Couture to private commissions from The King of Qatar and The Pope. Yes that’s right - The Pope! She has now turned her elaborate embroideries into artworks.
Using a combination of Irish machining, hand embriodery, embellishment and applique to make the pieces come to life. I think the polar bear has to be my favourite although the tattooed monkey comes in at a close second.
Karen’s latest exhibition is at the Marylebone hotel and runs until 8th May so be sure to see it if you get a chance.
